From 1841 until 1999 there was nothing on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square, London however, now it is the location for contemporary art works which are commissioned specially from leading artists and housed on the plinth for up to two years.
The current work on display is Thomas Schutter's sculpture 'Model for a Hotel 2007'. It is an architectural model of a twenty-one storey building, constructed in specially engineered red, yellow and blue glass.
